We are keen on “Lovely Lady of the Sea ” by Joyce Hughes

We are happy  to announce that the amazing  “Lovely Lady of the Sea’,  by Joyce Hughes a self taught quilter and fiber artist won a BLUE Ribbon at “Quilt Fest of New Jersey”, 3-2012, for Best Use of Embellishments. The judges comments on embellishments were” Vibrant use of colors with the THREADS, adds dimension and interest in the quilt”.

Lovely Lady of the Sea is realized using Aurifil cotton 28wt

Joyce Hughes says : ” I loved using Aurifils 28 weight cotton thread . The perfect weight and brilliant colors, helped  add extra texture and create visual effects.   1. This is really awesome! I love it. What great work. I am loving working with the 28 weight thread for our stitcheries this year. Nice to know I can put it in my machine needle okay, too! :-)

  2. Your quilt is beautifil and so free. I love the colors you chose and Congratulations on your ribbon! I haven’t had the chance to use the 28wt threads but have some on order. Can’t wait.

    • Thank you, you will Love the heavier wt. , You can get all the same beautiful colors in every weight that Aurifil makes. I do use 50 wt. , (of the same color), in the bobbin , this helps to keep the work smooth and eliminate bulk were you are working. I also use a #90 top stitch needle.
