Hi I’m Pat Sloan the Aurifil Designer of the Month coordinator. April’s Designer of the month is the creative mind behind Monkey Do and new Quilt book Author Katy Jones! Katy lives in a little village just outside of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England. She tells me “There’s not much where I live – some woodland, some fields, some with shaggy brown cattle with horns in and some with sheep.”
Because of the internet not only have I gotten to know the fabulous Katy via her blog Monkey Do, but we have been able to exchange ideas, help each other through tasks and become great friends! Katy takes fabric and makes it sings! She is not afraid of a bold print nor does she shy away from a timid fabric. Katy takes them all and pushes the traditional quilt to the outer limits.
On June 5, 2012 I did a super cool interview with Katy about her work and she shared with me exactly the type of fabric that is missing in our world!
EACH MONTH we will pick one random winner that has made a block from our designers and that random person receives a special Aurifil thread prize! Winners are all contacted via Flickr email and posted at our Flickr page in the winner topics.
You can make ANY of the 2013 blocks to be in the running (and we hope you make them all!). Share your photos at our Flickr Folder… we can’t WAIT to see what you do!
Hi I’m Pat Sloan the Aurifil Designer of the Month coordinator. July in Australia is winter and our July featured Designer Sarah Fielke was inspired to do a Summer stitchery for you! I have loved Sarah’s quilt style since I first found her. I’m lucky to have meet her and interviewed her for my radio show.
Remember to post your photo at our Flickr folder of a project given by one of the Aurifil Designers of the month (see tab on right for all the profiles). One quilter EACH MONTH will win a prize of Aurifil thread! Just post a photo of your completed block. Everyone in the Flickr folder is in the running! We have a new folder for the 2012 projects
Hi I’m Pat Sloan the Aurifil Designer of the Month coordinator. I am so happy to be able to introduce you to Anna of Thimbleanna fame!
Every so often you read and blog and it pulls you in. It might be the writing, or the photography, or the fun sense of humor the author has. For me it was all that when I started to read the Thimbleanna blog. http://thimbleanna.com/

Easter week in Manchester, NH saw the latest installment of the Machine Quilters Exposition (a.k.a. MQX) at the Center of New Hampshire/Radisson Hotel. MQX’s first show took place in 2003 in the more remote conference center in Laconia, NH, but has since grown year by year in both size and reputation to become the premier exhibition for machine quilters in the United States. Show founders, Janet-Lee Santeusanio and Mary Schilke made their vision into reality to the delight of exhibitors and visitors alike. MQX is a full-featured show and contest, offering quilters opportunities to exhibit their quilts in a dozen categories, or to take any of over 200 classes and lectures from any of 56 teachers. In addition, every year, the show features special exhibits of related quilts and a charity challenge. This year, those included a 40 piece exhibit called Real Men Can Quilt, and another from a 33 member group from the Maine Machine Quilters and a collection by quilter Ronda Kae Beyer.
