Today, she and her company are located in the leafy rolling countryside of the Northeast. The Sis Boom collection includes over 200 fabric designs, two Chronicle published crafting books, a range of home decor products, PDF sewing patterns, an online shop and a fun-filled blog!”

“The Sis Boom Collection, its name adopted from her childhood nickname given to her by her twin brother, defies easy categorization. With unusual artistry and a love of texture and a blend of vivid colors, Jennifer uses tag sales, flea markets and European sources as a starting point to create her art.
Jennifer’s connection to all things vintage forms the basis of her textile work. She clearly identifies with their strong, saturated and lively color and seeks to incorporate these elements into her various fabric lines for Free Spirit.”

  1. Love these colors, and have been looking for the 40 wt at my local stores with no luck. This would be a great way to try them!

  2. I use 50wt. and love it for piecing as well as quilting. It’s strong, almost lint free, and a cone seems to last forever!

  3. I use 50 wt most of the time, but I like having 40 wt and 28 wt for certain uses. I have not yet tried the embroidery floss, I am curious about it.

  4. I have never used Aurifil, but would love to win some and check it out. I just got a brand new Janome 8900 QCP machine YESTERDAY, so I’m ready to go! 🙂

  5. My favorite is 50 weight for piecing. It is thin but sturdy. Does not take up alot of room in the seams which makes it much easier to get that elusive 1/4″ seam.

  6. I recently purchased some Aurifil 40wt as it said it was strong and would accentuate my quilting. I should have gotten more colors, but I chose peacock & rust. Suddenly all my projects are lighter, but I’m dying to try it & looking for my next colors to try so I can stock up.

  7. I love the 50wt cotton, which I use for quiltmaking (piecing and appliqué) and for quilting. My machine seems to prefer Aurifil!

  8. I”m currently using 40wt thread. Love the way Auriful looks on quilts. I’d like to try a thicker weight on my next quilt for more of a hand quilt look. thanks for this great giveaway.

  9. I have only used the 50W thread so I guess that’s my favorite. This giveaway is wonderful. It would be a great chance to try out the 40W which I presume would work well with quilt designs.

  10. Thank you so much for the giveaway. I have only used the 50 weight. I love it because it sews so smoothly when you are doing hand applique. It doesn’t tangle or knot and your work looks fantastic.

  11. I have only tried the 50wt thus far, but look forward to expanding my sewing, embroidery and quilting skills and trying other types and weights of threads. Thank you. kathleendotlutzatcomcastdotnet

  12. I have a lot of 50 weight thread, and it’s great for piecing and quilting, especially FMQ. But I also have some 30 weight thread that I want to try to use in my machine for straight-line quilting when I want the thread to really pop. It’s variegated, so I’m just waiting for the right project to give it a try!

  13. I use white or off white 50 wt for piecing because that is all my quilt shop sells–they don’t have any colors 😦 I was so happy to discover it after having such trouble with other threads getting stuck in my machine. When I bought my daughter her first machine, I gave her a good supply of it! Aurifil is excellent!!

  14. I have never used Aurifil yet…..but I love Jennifer’s fabrics and have a stash of them. I would love for my first taste of the thread to be in her colors 🙂

  15. I love the 50wt for piecing and quilting … it’s an allrounder and I so great to not have to change the thread while doing one or the other. And it’s great for hand-piecing, too!

  16. I use 50# the most, but also love the 40#. I have also used the 12# for hand quilting and embroidery and really love it. Oh, and the new poly blend for quilting is absolutely lovely!

  17. Hard to choose my favorite; 50wt is my favorite for piecing; 40wt my favorite for handquilting; have some of both and would love to add the luscious looking set you are offering on your giveaway.

  18. I’ve only used the 50 wt so far, but its strength and fineness is perfect for piecing. So smooth and fun to sew with!

  19. I have been using the 50 wt for piecing for a number of years. These are beautiful colors and the fabric collection is wonderful.

  20. I use 50 wgt most of the time, but I’m beginning to like the looks of 40 wgt for top stitching and FMQ.

  21. I LOVE 50wt ! Use it daily for hand sewing and machine sewing! I also Love 28wt for machine quilting when I really want the quilting to show, esp with variegated threads. Would love to try the 40 wt – beautiful colors!

  22. I use Aurifil 50 weight for hand applique because the colour range is fantastic and the thread sinks into the fabric becoming almost invisible.

I’ve tried 28wt for quilting, too, when I wanted that oomph that comes from a thicker thread, and 12 wt, for embroidery. I love them all, and the colors are great. I need a larger collection of 40wt, though.

  61. Right now I do not have a favorite because I have never used it yet. still new to threads. I grew up with one type of thread for everything, so still trying to figure out different weights and such
