Wonderland Quilt Along

The new year is the perfect time to start a new project, or two, or three! 😉 Today Aurifil Artisan Afton Warrick of Quilting Mod is sharing all about her Wonderland Quilt Along going on now! We adored Afton’s original version of this quilt and cannot wait to see all of your amazing versions!

Hello, I’m Afton Warrick! I’m a quilter, wife, stay at home mom of four, and Aurifil Artisan. Quilting began as a summer fling during my time as an elementary teacher. It turned into a hardcore habit when I took an extended leave from my career to start a family. I began to get even more involved in quilting as I took classes, joined local guilds, and shared my experiences on my blog. Quilting Mod evolved into a business as I started designing original patterns, showing my work professionally, and applying my teaching experience to instructing adults wanting to express themselves creatively with fabric and thread.

Today, I want to introduce you to a learning opportunity to build your quilting skills in appliqué, paper piecing, and traditional piecing—all while creating a whimsical quilt top.

You are invited to join the Wonderland Quilt Along, hosted on my Quilting Mod blog. There’s a friendly, interactive community of talented quilters who have joined the Wonderland Quilt Along Facebook group. Also, follow and post your blocks with the hashtag #WonderlandQuiltAlong on Instagram.

The quilt will finish at 46″ x 60″ with 3″ borders attached, 40″ x 54″ without. Blocks will be introduced monthly until the final layout is reached by the end of 2018.

The above Wonderland Quilt features C + S Rifle Paper Company Wonderland fabrics. My Quilt Along rendition will be in Angela Pignel’s Curious Dream for Windham and coordinating prints from my stash.

I’m using the coordinating Aurifil thread collection, which contains complimentary hues in 12 wt and 50 wt. I do love how Aurifil makes the same hues available in different weights so color matching is effortless.

Four blocks have been introduced, but it’s not too late to catch up. Download the patterns, and see the tutorials by clicking the links below to access the posts.

I’m looking forward to seeing all of your ingenuitive interpretations!
