Welcome to our stop on the Mini Masterpieces Book Hop! Written by Aurifil Designer Alyce Blyth for Lucky Spool, Mini Masterpieces – Learn How to Quilt is the perfect book for learning new skills on a smaller scale!
Each chapter of Mini Masterpieces concentrates on a different technique, from strip piecing, to EPP, and everything in between! Our very own Social Media Coordinator Hilary Jordan was kind enough to join Alyce for the hop and make a block from the book. Take it away Hilary!
I was a bit nervous when Alyce emailed and assigned me the improv curves block. My knowledge of sewing curves and improv piecing is minimal at best, but I was ready for a new challenge. After reading through the instructions a few times, I grabbed a couple pieces of Tula Pink fabric and started slicing.
Alyce’s directions in the book were easy to understand and the diagrams were a great visual aid. Plus, throughout the book she gives little tips to go along with the directions which are a huge help. I was pleasantly surprised when my block turned out how it was supposed to! Thank you so much to Alyce for helping me step outside my quilty comfort zone. This was fun! 😀
